Montaña Sagrada

(Machapuchare, en el macizo del Annapurna)

Machapuchare has never been climbed to its summit. The first, and only known, attempt was in 1957 by a British team led by Jimmy Roberts. They climbed to within 50m of the summit via the North Ridge, but did not complete the ascent; they had promised not to set foot on the actual summit. Since then, the mountain has been declared sacred, and it is now forbidden for climbers.

Record Store Day

On Saturday, record shops across the country will observe the fifth annual nationwide celebration of in-person commerce known as Record Store Day. Organized by coalitions of independent record stores, many record labels use the occasion to release collectible vinyl, limited-edition CDs and live material. For many of those stores, it'll be the single largest sales day of the entire year. For a struggling recording industry, it'll be like a one-day trip back in time. npr
